You know the strawberry bobble that dangles from your tomato pin cushion? It's filled with something heavy and gritty? That's emery!
If you make pin cushions, you definitely want to add a bobble of some kind filled with emery. It's great for polishing needles if they get a little tarnished during hand sewing. You simply squeeze the bobble between your thumb and finger and carefully slide a needle in and out. The emery grit - under a little pressure - cleans and polishes your needle! It works for pins too.
The tag that comes with the bottle of emery includes a pattern for making an emery strawberry.
